Appointment Policies
Guidelines to help us serve you and all patients efficiently
Standard Appointment Duration
A general appointment is allocated 10 minutes. Please limit your visit to one primary concern per appointment. For multiple issues, we encourage booking a follow-up appointment to ensure adequate time and attention for each concern.
Running Late?
While we strive to stay on schedule, complex medical situations may occasionally cause delays. We appreciate your patience and understanding — rest assured, when it's your turn, you will receive the same unhurried, compassionate care.
Lateness & Missed Appointments
Please arrive on time for your scheduled appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late, you may be asked to wait for the next available slot, or we may need to reschedule. If another patient has arrived, they will be seen first to keep the schedule fair for everyone.
If you need to cancel, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a missed appointment fee.
Let Us Know Your Concerns
Please inform our front desk staff about the reason for your visit when you check in. This allows us to triage appropriately and allocate extra time if needed for complex issues.
School, Work & Government Forms
Important information for form completion requests
Please Note: Form completion services are not covered by OHIP. Fees apply as these are uninsured services requiring physician time and expertise.
Submission Deadline
Kindly ensure you drop off forms/documents that need to be completed by Dr. Oluokun at least 72 hours (3 business days) before they are due.
Complex Forms (ODSP, Disability, Insurance)
Some forms, including ODSP applications, disability assessments, and life insurance medicals, may require 7-14 business days for completion. Please confirm current processing times with our reception team when dropping off your documents.
Pickup & Review Appointments
Please book a brief appointment when dropping off or picking up forms. This allows Dr. Oluokun to review the completed documents with you, answer any questions, and ensure accuracy before submission.
Form Completion Fees
Fees vary by form type and complexity. A detailed fee schedule is available at reception. Payment is required at the time of service.
Prescription Refill Policies
Ensuring safe and timely medication management
In-Person Appointments Preferred
For prescription refills, we strongly encourage booking an appointment to see Dr. Oluokun. This allows for a proper medication review, assessment of your current health status, and discussion of any side effects or concerns.
Prescription Requests Without an Appointment
If you request a prescription refill without an in-person or virtual appointment, an administrative fee of $25 will apply. This covers the physician's time for chart review, clinical decision-making, and pharmacy communication.
Processing Time
Please allow up to 10 business days for prescription requests to be completed. For urgent medication needs, please call the office directly so we can prioritize appropriately.
Opioid Prescription Policy
V Care Point Medical follows strict guidelines for opioid prescribing in accordance with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) standards. Please speak with reception or Dr. Oluokun directly for our updated opioid prescription policy, including requirements for pain contracts, regular reviews, and urine drug screening.
Annual Physicals & Wellness Checks
Evidence-based approach to preventive care
Updated Medical Guidance: The College of Family Physicians of Canada no longer recommends full annual "complete" physical exams for healthy individuals. Research shows that routine comprehensive physicals do not significantly improve health outcomes.
Wellness Checks (Recommended)
We recommend an annual wellness check to review:
- Preventive screenings (PAP tests, mammograms, colon cancer screening)
- Vaccination status and updates
- Blood pressure, weight, and other vital sign trends
- Lifestyle and risk factor discussions
For Active Health Concerns
If you have specific health concerns, new symptoms, or chronic condition follow-ups, please book a separate appointment. These concerns are better addressed in dedicated visits, not compressed into a wellness check.
